Miguna Claims He Was Offered The Deputy Governor’s Position Before Igathe

Lawyer Miguna Miguna was offered Nairobi county’s deputy governor position but turned it down, he revealed on NTV’s AM Live.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) general said that he was approached to take up the post which was then given to former managing director, Vivo Energy, Polycarp Igathe.
Igathe on Friday resigned his post as he had failed to earn Governor Mike Sonko’s trust in driving the county’s administration and management.
”No, I cannot (work under Sonko). I was approached to do so before Igathe. How do you deputise someone who cannot tell his left from his right?” Miguna posed.
”People skirt around this issue. The man was convicted and sentenced to jail for more than 6 months and ought not to have been allowed to run,” he added.
The crisis facing Nairobi, he says is as a result of electing into office ‘clueless’ individuals instead of women and men of integrity, with a vision for the transformation of a society.
He faults Sonko for the increased number of hawkers on the streets and the garbage that is never ending.
The governor, he says is an illiterate man who should not be left to handle the resources of the most important city in East and Central Africa.
Sonko, who is in Mombasa on Monday told journalists that he welcomes talks between him and the DG whose resignation takes effect on 31 January at 1pm.
