Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has warned NASA presidential candidate,Raila Odinga, that he risks house arrest if he persists in threats to block the fresh poll date set for next month.
Through his official Facebook page, the lawmaker claimed that “if Raila tries to stop us from voting on 17th October 2017.we will place him under house arrest just the way we did to Jaramogi [his father].”
During the funeral service of mother to Laikipia Governor, Ndiritu Muriithi, Kuria had also reiterated his stance that whether NASA likes it or not, the election will be held on the date that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has gazetted.
“As sure as day follows night, on the eve of October 17 Kenyans will vote. Raila cannot block anyone from queuing or voting for his/her leader because this country belongs to everybody,” said Moses Kuria.
IEBC gazetted October 17 as new poll date, with NASA leaders insisting that election will not take place as scheduled until key reforms within the electoral commission have been effected.
Among the changes that NASA has since termed ‘irreducible minimums’, the opposition wants a staff overhaul within IEBC with CEO, Ezra Chiloba, first on the list.
